Tibetan monks and healers have always known the powerful effect of sound. Now recent studies are showing that sound is effective at healing cancer cells and conventional medicine is beginning to catch up in the use of sound to target tumours.
Sound has been used as a healing tool for centuries, and is still regularly advocated by complementary healthcare providers, myself included. Tibetan singing bowels, tuning forks, drumming therapy, and even chanting are all used in sound therapy and participants are able to tap into and release harmful emotions trapped in the body's cells in therapy sessions.
Those of us who have seen the effect of sound in our work know how truly transformational it is - both on conditions that have already reached the physical body (cancer, pain, inflammation) and on the emotional issues that underly most disease. Now British doctors are catching up, having developed what they are calling a 'revolutionary' new therapy for cancer based on the use of high-powered beams of ultrasound.
The researchers – working at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), at the Royal Marsden hospital outside London – have used the technology to kill harmful tissue deep inside the bodies of patients suffering from metastatic bone lesions, preventing the need for surgery. In future, doctors believe they will also use ultrasound to zap prostate, breast and other tumours. “This technology has immense potential,” said Professor Gail ter Haar, who is based at the institute.

Sound healing is the practice of using audio tones and vibrational frequencies to repair damaged tissue and cells within the body. It works on the basis that all matter is vibrating at specific frequencies and sickness, disease, depression and stress causes human beings to vibrate at a lower frequency.
Playing tones that promote cell health and in turn cause cells to heal and regain their vitality allows your DNA strands to heal and repair themselves. Sound has the power to heal mental illness, arthritis, autoimmune disorders and can shrink cancerous tumors.
Dr Emoto’s Messages from Water
Dr Masaru #Emoto is a Japanese researcher at the Yokohama Municipal University who discovered the effect of spoken word on water molecules. He placed several bottles of purified water next to each other and exposed each bottle to different spoken words, music or pictures. The words ranged from ‘I love you’ to ‘you make me sick’. Dr Emoto also experimented with different music forms such as heavy metal and Mozart. The water was frozen and, using a powerful microscope, Dr Emoto took photographs of the newly formed water crystals.
All of the samples that had been exposed to positive words and relaxing music formed beautifully intricate patterns and symmetrical, geometric shapes. By contrast, the samples that were exposed to heavy metal music and angry words were distorted and disharmonious. Dr Emoto showed that water – and correspondingly the cells of our body as we are 70% water – are directly affected by outside influences such as sound, vibration, and frequency.

Fabien Maman - the father of sound therapy
The tuning forks I use in my healing clinic have been specially designed by #FabienMaman, who is considered to be the father of #soundhealing. Originally a musician and composer, Fabien became an acupuncturist and started to link music with acupuncture, creating a system which uses tuning forks instead of needles on acupuncture command points.
In the early 80’s, Fabien conducted his revolutionary biology experiments at the University of Jussieu in Paris, showing the impacts of acoustic sound on human cells and their energy fields. I can only speak from my own experience that the combination of sound vibration and colour working on meridians (within the body) and the chakra system (without the body) is the fastest way that I know to release blockages and balance the body, mind and spirit creating wellness and spiritual ease.
There are certain combinations of these tuning forks that can ease conditions such as pain or break down tumours and lumps and bumps. One client came to me with a knot in her shoulder that had been bothering her for over a year and visits to osteopaths and massage therapists had only provided temporary relief. After a healing session working on issues she was holding on to and application of the forks on the painful area, she felt instant relief, texting me a month later to say, "I really can't believe that, weeks later, my shoulder is still pain and knot free. I am still doing the same if not more strenuous work and I am having no bother from it".
What's the learning?
Every complementary will peel away a different layer of the negative or repressed thoughts and emotions trapped in your energy system but I feel that sound is a real shortcut to rapid results. And, above all, mind the way you talk to yourself, talk to your children – catch the negative thoughts and words and replace them with positive and you will see transformative effects, even before you set foot in your therapist's healing room.
